Many couples have asked if they "Have" to do an engagement session, my reply - "No you don't have to but here's why I highly recommend it."
We include with every wedding collection an engagement session - it is very important for me for you to experience what our style is like before the big day! Yes you could skip the session but then in the back of your mind come wedding day you'll be wondering "What is she going to make me do? How will I have to stand? Is this going to be cheesy?" All of those things are ironed out during your engagement session.
Most of my couples are not in front of a camera often so a lot of those jitters will be gone after doing an engagement session. You'll be able to see it's just "Michelle & Ben" and you will feel a lot more relaxed on your wedding day. When you can relax more and be yourself on your wedding day- that alone will help create the natural candid photos every one is looking for- those are my favorite photos from your day and want to be sure we will capture them on your wedding day.
I love getting to do a session someplace that is special to you. Is there a favorite park, a barn, a place you met, the place you were proposed to? These are all starting points on ideas for your engagement session. I can help suggest many locations for your session depending on the "look" you want for you photos.
I always suggest to pick a season and place you'd want on your walls. If it's a beach, a field, urban/downtown, country/barn, etc I can help find a spot perfect for your session.
What to wear - I love when you pop in the photos so we will discuss what location and what colors will pop most in those spots/season. Another recommendation might be to wear colors that are your wedding colors if you're looking to use the engagement photos for Save the Dates!
I look forward to sharing more tips and ideas with you to help plan your engagement session with us!
